My thoughts of what it can do are either:
1. It might be just a dummy download, but which will cost $$$ on your mobile account.
2. It might be some software which phones somewhere and by that cost $$$ on your mobile account.
3. Phone somewhere and upload address book information.

Anyhow, it would be wise to not go to the URL by using a mobile phone.

Not much to do to avoid getting these messages, I'm afraid.

I too received this odd message and tried to find the site but it would not come up. failed search. I wonder now, what can it do? Retrieve all my info from my phone and what can we do to stop receiving these messages?

On a related note: Microsoft are currently working on integrating A/V functionality in a later version of Messenger for Mac. This was confirmed in this blog post by one of the developers at MacBU.

If MSN is the only alternative for her, then I would suggest trying aMsn. This is a MSN client application which have support for webcam (iSight). I don't think it have support for audio transfer though, so it might not be a good solution.

I would strongly suggest that she and her friends try out Skype instead. This is a much better solution for multimedia conversations online and works on both Windows and Mac (and Linux, but only audio/text). Not only does it work much better than MSN does, but it's completely free too. My company is using this solution extensively, and all our telephone meetings are done with Skype, and I have successfully used it in conference calls between Norway, Denmark and United States.

Remember though, that it is not a lack of multimedia support on Macs which is the cause of this, but the fact that Microsoft has not released a MSN client for Mac which got these features.

Good luck

English may be better.....
Atupid question from somebody who has been forced to use pc for too many years.
Bought a MacBook to my daughter because I have always wanted one (sigh!), but got it in return because she couldn't use iSight on msn and msn was obviously the only alternative since all her friends use msn. Is that a fact, or is there some way around this?
Thanks in advance :)

Hmm...merkelig at den ikke finner noen byer, den fungerer gulle godt her. Prøv å slett innstillingsfilen til den og prøv på nytt.

Du finner den her:

Comment on Why use Unicode? by Geir-Tore

Security issues are obviously a consideration to take when using Unicode, or more specifically, when implementing support for Unicode. For character representations (XML/HTML, etc) UTF-8 is the most common Unicode scheme, and during the updates of the Unicode specification there have been numerous restrictions made on implementations of this scheme. Considering the article by Schneier, one way is to restrict the size of the character sequences which are parsed, such that illegal sequences can be ignored. This is also a requirement set by the Unicode Standard.

Here are some additionally links with information related to Unicode and security aspects:
